Choose Wisely

October 17, 2017

Conflicted feelings are difficult.  We may disagree with the other sides stance. We may not agree with someone else's rhetoric. We may disagree with other people's choices. We may feel like we are being belittled or treated as less than. We may. We might. We are. Yet! We know that we are more than all of that.

Romans 8:37 NIV
"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

We know that our lives are impacted by the things of this world. We are going to face issues and challenges. There will be times when we will have to respond. Out loud and up front. We will have to stand up and speak out. Our words, our response to the worlds impact on us, will also impact the world. Our part is to remember to impact the world with the love of Jesus. In other words ... We don't have to stand on other people in order to stand up for ourselves.

Jesus reminds us to turn the other cheek. He cautions us against following the crowd. He tells us to be thoughtful and to choose our words wisely before standing up on our soapbox. Jesus tells us above all, to love God and one another. Words are powerful weapons. Choose them wisely.

Proverbs 18:21 MSG
"Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose."
