The past can sneak up on us and create havoc in our minds. That old turbulent history that lingers in our minds during the dark hours of the night. Memories that churn and stir up doubt that makes us question ourselves and our purpose. Times like these call for us to stand up for ourselves. Call out the past and put it back in its box.
"Get thee behind me Satan" (Matthew 16:23) is what Jesus said. We can utilize Jesus' lesson too and stand up for ourselves. Something like: You can get outta my head Satan, and take all your churned up charges with you. They are a stumbling block to me and I am looking at the stepping stones of my future. I am setting my mind on the things of God. The mistakes of my past are now a learning experience and do not define my future. God defines my future. I am looking towards the future. My past is in a box. I'm looking outside of the box. Look. There it is! (paraphase to fit your circumstances) Thank you Jesus!
Isaiah 43:18-19 MSG
"Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is!"
Jesus is the One who clarifies our future. Our sins are forgiven because of Jesus. Our mistakes have become lessons because of Jesus. The future is bright and shining because of Jesus. It's out there. It's bursting out!
Gosh I love that! It's bursting out! Can't you see it. Look! There it is. Never forget what God has told you, because He always keeps His promises.
