As I was taking clothes out of the dryer yesterday, I dropped the lint trap. That fine mess went back over the edge of the dryer, back into the drum and onto the floor. Making a fine mess as it distributed itself all over the place. Another chore to add to my already full day. Ugh. That is until I started sweeping the messiness of the stuff up with my hand. Right there, on my knees, whining because I had one more thing to do on my ever growing list, I had to stop and Thank God.
Yep, I had a thank You God moment right there on the floor. Lying there, right next to the pile of lint mess, was my earring. I didn't even realize it wasn't in my ear anymore. Later that same day I found the back in another room. Not only had I lost it, but it had spread from one end of the house to the other. I would never have found it, if I hadn't dropped that lint trap. It just slipped right out of my hand. I was complaining one minute and the next I was grateful for this unexpected slight of hand. The thing that stands out to me the most in this little story, is that these were my 'mustard seed' earrings. This teeny tiny seed encased in glass, that remind me that a little bit of faith goes a long way. Yep, Faith and Gratitude certainly go hand and hand.
Luke 13:18-19 VOICE
"Jesus (explaining): Do you want to understand the kingdom of God? Do you want Me to tell you what it’s like? It’s like a single mustard seed that someone took and planted in his garden. That tiny seed grew and became a tree so large that the birds could fly in and make their nests in its branches."
Faith and gratitude. Faith makes it possible for us to experience gratitude. Jesus is all about faith. Faith to believe. It is because of Jesus, and all that He did for us, all that He continues to do for us, that we have abundanat life in Him. Life with all it's joy. Gratitude is an attitude of faith. Experienced in even the smallest of moments. Just like that little bitty mustard seed. Faith shines through every single time and blesses us with grateful hearts.
Thanksgiving is about having a grateful heart. A grateful heart sold out to Jesus. Bought and paid for by the King of Kings. Today, even in the smallest way, may we each step up and speak out about our faith and gratitude. Thank God today, on this day of giving thanks.
May your Thanksgiving be Blessed and Bountiful!
