We had the privilege of being present as our daughter and other friends graduated from college today. It was a hard earned day that celebrated a joyful achievement. They are ready to forge ahead into new fields and help make the world a better place. Our hearts were truly joyful as we celebrated their achievements.
All of our school years prepare us for graduation and beyond. As my grandson is fond of saying, 'learning makes my brain hurt'. Learning is challenging. Learning is achieved through the blood, sweat and tears that go into long days and nights of study. Tests, projects, research and teamwork are all part of the curriculum that prepare us for the 'real world' that we will one day enter. We gain knowledge and understanding about the things we will need to make our way in the world. Things that will help us succeed on our journey through life. Preparation is the name of the game.
Ephesians 6:13-18 MSG
"Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out."
Learning, however, doesn't stop on graduation day. Preparation is a process that we continue to choose for ourselves. God encourages us to utilize every opportunity to make ourselves ready. 'Take all the help you can get'. Learn to appreciate and walk in truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation. Learn how to apply them in our everyday lives. Be ready and pray. Pray hard and long. Watch where you're going, help one another along the way and pray. Prayer gets us ready everyday. Be ready and pray.
