Old and New

December 27, 2017

Christmas has come and gone. It's incredible that after months of buildup, the entire gift exchange usually only takes an hour or so. Everyone is playing with their new gifts. Batteries are being exhausted and kids (big and small) are playing; their heart's are content and the possibilities are endless. Inside toys and outside games; imaginations are being utilized and fun is being had by all. The meals that have been prepped and prepared for days are quickly gobbled up as we sit back and watch football; ... wait ... that should have been watch the kids play. {wink, wink}

All that's left to do is eat all the yummy leftovers, when suddenly, we reach that point. That moment when we realize we have to put everything away. Then the dreaded clean up begins. Out come trash bags as we start by picking up the tissue paper and wrapping paper. Boxes are broken down for recycling and instructions are salvaged, as we begin folding the reusable gifts bags for next years fun.

As the old is replaced by the new, we must make room. We can make it fun, a traditional event, a game of sorts, as we make room for the newest collections. Having a good time with the remember when's, as we discuss and debate the things that we are going to give away. Items in great shape that we can donate to a worthy cause. Outgrown toys and other items from Christmas' past that will become a treasure for someone else's trove. Like the saying goes 'Out with the old, in with the new'.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"

Just like that we have a new beginning. When we belong to Christ we become a new person. The old life is gone and a new life has begun! It's not a bunch of hoopla. This is the real deal. We each have the opportunity to be made new. As we grow in Christ, each day becomes a new opportunity for change and revelation about ourselves. As new life begins and grows within us, we become a trove of treasures for heaven's sake. Literally. We become a treasured trove filled by Christ's life. New life begins with Jesus Christ changing us; each day He changes us from the inside out.
