When we are in the middle of a crisis we tend to lose sight of our ability to remain calm. We can get all bent out of shape over the smallest of minor details. We take to task people who are trying to support us. Anger raises its ugly head and we lash out at others. Fear takes on a persona that rules over our judgements and emotions. We surrender to worry; allowing it to be a thief within our minds. Until that person arrives. That person who we know we can call on to be a positive influence and calming force.
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
"For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
Being a calming force in the middle of a storm is no mean feat. It's a good thing to be, especially for someone who feels like the walls are crashing in on them. God encourages us take His calming influence on the road with us, as we visit those caught up in an emotional response. As we walk and talk, through us, the love of the living God is breathed on those who are ruffled, flustered and distraught. As we share His loving care towards those caught up in the other side of calamity, God's light will shine bright from us and they will be reassured. His gladness and joy is a beacon for those who are lost in the middle of fear. Take God on the road with you; be a calming influence and spread the Joy!
