The other day, I heard someone say that you cannot choose to be happy, yet that’s just what God anticipates from us.
1 Peter 5:7 MSG
“So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.”
Be content with who you are. Content is defined as a state of peaceful happiness. Trying to be something we aren’t, is usually what gets us in a pickle in the first place. Who we are in Christ is the best response for any thoughts of miscontent we might feel. Realize that God’s strong hand is upon us. His hand isn’t weak or lazy, it is strong and confident. All the time. Everyday.
When we are confident in God we can be content, peaceful and know true happiness. When we are confident in God we can be joyful in our present, knowing that our future is being carefully crafted by His hands.
