I was just sitting here thinking and contemplating; thankful that we can pray for wisdom and guidance. You see, I was confounded by an software application. I had used this app many times, yet suddenly it wasn’t working the way it had always worked. Frustration was setting in and I was determined to not let it get the best of me. So I plugged in my old device and waited for the charge to be complete.
Day two. Yep, you guessed it. Everything worked fine. From my old device, but not from my new device. What was different? Other than it was a newer device, everything was the same; or so I thought until I asked for help.
Proverbs 15:22 MSG
“Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed.”
So many times we fail at a task, only because we refuse to ask for advice. Help is usually only a question away, but we have to ask for the advice before we can work through the problem. In this particular case, I was missing a step. It was something that I did naturally on the old device, but I was befuddled by it on the new device. Easy peasy, once I asked for advice; because then I could see the issue and everything changed, from my perspective. Advice 1. Frustration 0.
There is nothing wrong with asking for help when we need it, as a matter of fact God encourages us to help one another through the difficulties we encounter. We are the ones who seem to have trouble asking. We get caught up thinking we should be able to do this ourselves or we don’t want to bother someone else or maybe we have plain old control issues. My advice ... if you’re heading towards frustration, that’s the right time to stop and pray. Ask God for advice. He will send you in the right direction.
