Today, everything has been about love. You’d think it was because it’s Valentine’s Day, but that wasn’t it. Every time I picked up my Bible to read today, it was about loving one another. Conversations too. Conversations about loving people who have been there when we have gone through struggles. Conversations about loving people who have made an impact on our lives. Conversations about loving people who have helped us make a difference. Conversations about loving people who are hard to love. Conversations about loving people who are always there when we need them. Conversations about loving people who are friends and family. Conversations about loving people.
John 13:34-35 NLT
“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
Love one another. Love one another because Jesus specifically asks us to love each other. Not because we have to, not because we ought to, not even because it’s easier. Jesus asks us to love each other like He loves us.
1 Corinthians 13:13 MSG
“But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.”
These three things lead us toward our final destination in Jesus; trust, hope and love. Not just love, but extravagant love. That’s the love we should have for each other. Be generous with our love for one another. These three things; trust God in all things, carry a steady and constant hope in Jesus, and most of all love. Love one another. Love one another because Jesus first loved us.
