Hope Against Fear

February 23, 2018

As I was talking with my Goddaughter today, she was sharing her concerns about the attitude of fear that is being tossed about by the kids at her middle school. Fear is running rampant in the hallways on campus’ throughout our country. This type of fear is a terrorist.

Psalm‬ ‭27:1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
“THE Lord is my Light and my Salvation–whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?”
‭‭
Fear can be a debilitating condition if we allow it to be in control. We know car accidents happen, yet we still drive. We know airplanes occasionally crash, yet we continue to fly. We know we might fall and break a bone, yet we still walk and even run. As I reassured her, I also reassured myself. Our courage against this type of fear is only found in the assurance of our salvation.

John‬ ‭10:10‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
‭‭
Jesus came that we might have life. Not just life, but abundant life. Super abundant life. A full and overflowing life, is a life that is no longer dictated by this terrorist, fear.

Yes, we are scared for our kids and we are scared for each other. 1 John 4:18 teaches us that ‘God’s perfect love casts out fear’. Romans 8:31 teaches us that ‘since God is for us who can be against us’. Because of God’s love, we will find that we are no longer bound or governed by this type of fear.

Hebrews‬ ‭11:1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
“NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”
‭‭
Jesus is our armor and our hope against this fear. Jesus is the assurance that we can count on. Jesus is the answer to our fears, because HE IS our Salvation. It is because of and through Jesus that we are children of God. That’s the One and Only God. God Almighty. The King of Kings. The Light of the World. He is our ABBA Father. His children are not afraid of this terrorist, fear. Fear is not of God. Hope is of God. Goodness and Mercy and Grace is of God. Peace is of God. Love is of God. Love one another and fear not, because God is with us.
