Each and every day of our lives, we are growing. The question is, what are we growing in? Are we sharing hope and peace with the world or are we curled up with our own selfishness and worries? Are we loving our neighbors or are we cursing and cutting them off in traffic? Is patience and kindness part of our everyday repertoire or do we create drama when we don’t get what we want, when we want it? Are goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control concepts that we are committed to improving in our lives or do we have a ‘me, me, me ... what can I get out of this for me’ attitude?
Psalms 1:3 NLT
“They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
Growing in the attributes of the Fruits of the Spirit isn’t a seasonal option choice. We should be growing and productive fruit bearers all the time. Growing more and more fruitful in all areas of our lives on a daily basis. Never withering as the seasons of our lives change, but growing stronger day by day. Will we have off days sometimes? Yes, but we have to learn to bend with the wind, so that we can straighten right back up. How? By growing roots that dive deeper and deeper into our source of Living Water, so that we don’t wither, but grow more productive each and every day.
