There are many people listed as favored in the Bible. From Abel to Jesus and then some more. God shows His people favor in a multitude of ways. Favor. Look up the word in your Bible. Favor is found all over the place. Examples of favor range from the everyday details in someone's life to the immensity of an entire nation.
Abel, Noah, and Moses each found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Joseph was given favor in the pit, to prison and beyond. As the Israelites were exiting Egypt, God caused the Egyptians to favor them with gifts and supplies; everything they needed and everything they asked for. Samuel grew in favor, Saul was favored for a time, and David was favored, as a man after God's own heart. Esther found favor, Mary was highly favored, and without a doubt, Jesus was favored and grew in favor in the eyes of the Lord. Peter had to be filled with favor as he boldly spoke the Good News and God poured out His special favor on Paul. You and I are favored too. Blessed and favored. A child of the King. From the mundane everyday details of our lives to the enormity of God's plan for humanity.
I was in a car loaded down with shopping partners. Braving the Christmas shopping with a large group can be a logistical nightmare. Suddenly a parking spot up front opened up. "Yay! Rock star parking! Thank You God!" was my response. Someone in group said they weren't sure how much God was interested in how close our parking spot was. I am just as sure that the details of my life are as important to God as the details of anyone life that is listed in the Bible. Was his great parking spot important in its impact to the world at large? No. Was it a special blessing for a large rowdy group? Yes. So, when I get a parking spot way in the back does it mean I'm not favored and blessed? No. It does mean that I should appreciate the walk (maybe I need some exercise?) enjoy the view and be grateful for every single blessing. Even something as mundane as what I call 'rock star parking'.
Yes! Our lives are favored and blessed. Look around you. See the blessings. Look for the favor of God on your life. Favor can be found, even in the everyday day details, up to and through the impact that our lives have on our sphere of influence, and even (Wow!) reaching out into the world.
Don't take for granted the favor and the blessings as they appear. Stop and see the moments. Enjoy the moments. See the favor! Be joyful about it and be gracious. Say thank You to God.
Each day remind yourself that you too are favored by God. Blessed and protected, filled with joy and with grace, favored by God and gifted with peace.
Numbers 6: 24-26 NLT
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace."
