Ephesians 2:10 AMP

"For we are His workmanship, His own master work, a work of art, created in Christ Jesus reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used for good works, which God prepared for us beforehand taking paths which He set, so that we would walk in them living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us."

There is a whole lot in this verse. God can say so much in one sentence, can't He? But, what does it all mean? Ok. Let's look at it.

'For we are His workmanship, His own master work, a work of art...'

Each person is created by God's own hand. Really think about this. Each person who is and has ever existed was perfectly designed by God Himself. You might ask yourself what about someone who has a birth defect or something? They are still God's masterpiece? Yes! We are each perfectly designed for our purposes. A work of art. Each one of us. All the intricate details seen to personally and made perfect by His very own hand.

'...created in Christ Jesus reborn from above—'

Colossians 1: 15-17 tells us that everything, and I mean everything, is created and held together by Jesus. The sun, the stars the universe. All the planets, the atmosphere and even all the many Milky Ways out there. All of them are held together by Jesus. Even Laminin, a teeny tiny molecular component of our cells, the thing that holds us together, is shaped like a cross. That's Jesus holding us together. It is also through Jesus that we are given the opportunity to be 'born again' and become Children of God. Reborn from above is our own salvation through Jesus.

'...spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used for good works'

Romans 12:12 tells us this too. We are spiritually transformed and our minds are renewed each day as we read the Word, and as we walk and talk with the Holy Spirit. Every day! We can get our heads back on straight when we talk it over with Jesus. Everyday we have the opportunity to do better and do more of what God asks us to do. Every day is a new day. Every Day is a Transformed, Renewed and Ready Day!

'...which God prepared for us beforehand taking paths which He set, so that we would walk in them living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us.' Each person has a strategic plan and path for their life. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God's plan is perfect for us, it will make us better and create a future for us that is full of hope. Sometimes we might feel off course and don't (or can't) see the path, but it's there. When we struggle to stay on course, God is ready and willing to hold our hands, help us get steady and stay on our path. I've had lots of assignments throughout my life. Some have been easy and fun. I believe that I had special favor to see each one through. Some have been more difficult. During the difficult ones especially, I survived and thrived when I depended on God's grace to see me through. I believed it was becauseI had God's special favor to see me through.

God gives us assignments and it is our job to carry them out. Our assignments could range from the simple to the enormous. That's from our perspective, but it's all relevant to God. No one thing is too little and no one thing is too big for God. He gives you favor for a certain assignment and you are set to complete the job. God gives us all that we need, every thought to make it work, every person to stand with us, every dollar that is needed. We are at our most successful when we don't depend on our own devices, but when we depend on God. He will see us through.

That's what this verse is all about. God created you special. You. When you transform, renew and ready your mind each day you'll be right instep with the plan and on the path. Your plan, your path and your assignments are what God created YOU to do. Specifically. You. No one else can accomplish the assignment the way that you can, because you were created to do it. Remember that! God made us, made everything ready for us, to walk in the 'the good life'. Yeah! That's the assignment.
