Today was the last day of school for our community. This afternoon, as so many spilled out of the classroom, there were smiles, and shouts and joy galore. They were so happy to have completed their work and running head first, looking forward to the future with enthusiasm.
Each of them marked an important moment in their lives today, as they went from one grade into the next grade. Perhaps today marks an even bigger moment. Many will be moving to a new school, branching out from elementary to their middle school years, middle to high school or perhaps even onto college and beyond.
Today represents so much to each one of them. Hopefully, they have successfully accomplished all the goals that were set before them. Hopefully, they look forward to the next chapter with excitement and enthusiasm. Hopefully, their successes will continue to be built upon and enlarged upon, and they will achieve all of their dreams. Today, each of these students walk out of their classrooms for the last time this year. Today they began a new chapter in their lives, and there were smiles, and shouts, and joy galore.
Oh, for the enthusiasm and exuberance of youth. Oh, that we might be able to look forward to the future believing in the possibilities that our dreams are obtainable. Oh, for the ability to believe in a hope for the future that is not clouded with skepticism. Oh, for the enthusiasm to believe in the all of the potential of tomorrow. Hold on. Wait a minute. Stop the presses.
Philippians 1:6 NLT
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Right here in this verse, we too can find the all of the answers to the dilemmas that might be holding us back. No matter what the obstacles appear to be, right here in this verse God is telling us, very clearly, that He is not finished with us yet. Right here in this verse, we can challenge our skepticism and acknowledge that our successes can continue to be built upon and enlarged too. Right here in the very simple, straight forward words of this verse, we should be able to gather up all the enthusiasm, potential, possibilities and encouragement we need for our future.
Right here. Right now. Today! We should smile like we just started summer break, shout with joy galore and run head first into tomorrow, because God’s not finished with us yet. Woot! Woot! Are you smiling yet?
