Our circumstances and choices are not always easy ones to make. When we reach for something, something that we know we are supposed to reach for, it can be a scary process. The un-named woman who reached out and touched Jesus was surely afraid. She knew what she needed to do, and yet she was afraid. She must have prayed hard as she made her way through the crowd, knowing that there were many naysayers and adversaries surrounding her. Still, she knew what she had to do and she did it anyway. She pushed and bobbed and wove her way through it all, until she reached out to Jesus.
Mark 5:32 MSG
“But he went on asking, looking around to see who had done it.”
Jesus knew as soon as her hand had extended out to meet Him. Jesus knew, and yet even so, He looked for her. He wanted to see her face. He wanted to talk to her. What did Jesus want to say to her?
Mark 5:34 MSG
“Jesus said to her, “Daughter, you took a risk of faith, and now you’re healed and whole. Live well, live blessed! Be healed of your plague.”
Jesus reassured her and He acknowledged her leap of faith. He acknowledged that He understood what she had felt. He understood her dilemma and He praised her fortitude. Jesus then went on to urge her to live well and to live blessed.
When we take a leap of faith, it isn’t always easy. We may have to push and bob and weave our way through a crowd of naysayers, but when we reach out to Jesus we will find results. When we reach out to Jesus, we live well and we live blessed.
