‘I’m not mad, I’m disappointed.’ Disappointed. It was always the worst when I heard those dreaded words from my Mom. You get the look across a crowded room, and you know, without a doubt, that you’re going to hear about it when you get home. Whatever it was you did, it was seen and you know it was disappointing. Disappointed. Ugh! It was the worst. The disappointed look. Hearing the disappointment in her voice. Yet, these are the things that help us learn. That was the goal. This fear of disappointment is the thing that keeps us on the straight and narrow. The lessons that we learn, help us do better and be better, as we grow and mature.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 NLT
“That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.”
Disappointment is still the same today with our Father God. It’s the disappointment that we hope we are able to avoid by making better choices. The dreaded disappointment. The ‘fear’ of disappointing God is the same ‘fear of God’ mentioned here. Our ABBA Father is always helping us become more; more and better than we were the day before. The Holy Spirit is that nudge that reminds us to be aware of our choices. The Holy Spirit is our guidance and our encouragement as we grow. The Holy Spirit helps us understand God’s lessons and guides us through our opportunities to learn. The lessons that we learn, help us do better and be better, as we grow and mature as believers. Fear God and do what He says. That’s our first and best choice.
