What do we do when we are feeling down in the dumps? Yep, we Christians are still prone to getting the blues. The illusive ‘something’ is often the culprit. It might be as simple as a sleep problem or an unexpected work issue, it could be bad news or big changes (both good and bad), and it might just be too much going on around us and we need to rest. That’s just the beginning of the potential list of culprits. Yep, these are only a few of the things that might trigger that ugh feeling. Ugh for anything and everything. I’m not talking about procrastination here, although that too could be a symptom of the down in the dumps blues. As with most things, the symptoms are vast and vary from person to person. This type of down in the dumps blues is often related to a perspective issue. Our perspective has gotten skewed in some way, and just like our other devices, we need to find our reset button.
Psalm 55:22 MSG
“Pile your troubles on GOD ’s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin.”
Our first stop in our search for a perspective reset should be right at the feet of the Lord. Pile all the feelings, doubts and frustrations right there for God to carry. God’s shoulders are deep enough and wide enough for anything we may need to leave there. God’s more than enough is always just the right amount for us. Trust Him and God will take great delight in lightening our load, however, leaving it there is up to us.
