Psalm 23 has been floating around in my thoughts all day. Although King David penned these words so long ago, we still find comfort and peace threaded throughout the verses. The Word of God is alive and each line breathes peace and life over us. As the day wore on I settled into thoughts surrounding verse five. Dinner. Dinner with the Lord as Host.
Psalm 23:5 MSG
“You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing.”
Here we sit at table spread with all of our favorites, basking in the presence of the Lord. The phrasing speaks to us about our safety. No matter what’s going on around us, we are safe and secure with the Lord of Hosts. Our Father God cherishes us and delights in our presence. He lifts our chin and looks into our hearts. The Lord has our best interests on His heart. The presence of the Lord blesses us, as He reassures us. The Lord of Hosts is the very best Host in the business. Dinner with God. It’s a good thing. It's a very good thing.
