ROFL

August 21, 2018

Today I was reminded of a very funny, yet also very endearing story about my Mom and I. As many of you may remember, ‘I’ve fallen and I can’t get up’ was a tag line of a popular commercial. We would giggle about it often, until the day I received one of those calls. My Mom was tearful, and laughing at the same time, as she explained her situation. She had taken a seat on a low stool to clean under the bathroom sink. Yep. She was stuck and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t get up. Help! Was her cry between tears and giggles. Luckily, I was very close, and as I entered the house she hollered hallelujah and we began to really laugh. We laughed as we studied the situation for a bit. Between tears and giggles, and asking God for help, we came up with our solution. Yep, it’s a true ROFL  story. I rolled my Momma into the living room. Amid bouts of uncontrollable laughter and giggles, we finally made it to the couch. Between the two of us, we were able to lift her from the floor. Tears were still running down our cheeks (and our legs HaHa) as we thanked God for our success that day.

Colossians‬ ‭1:11-12‬a NLT‬‬
“We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father.”
‭‭
God’s Spirit gives us ideas and inspiration when we need a solution. Some moments in our life require endurance and patience. Opportunities like this are seldom easy, yet when we add joy as a part of the solution, it is the best of all options. God is good. His love and faithfulness endures forever. (Psalm 100:5) God’s love helps us endure through all things too. His faithfulness teaches us patience and endurance while encouraging us to also experience joy in our journey. Laugh. Laugh out loud with joy as we thank God for everything, especially the outrageously funny solutions.
