As the door closed behind the boys this evening, my sigh was especially audible. Peace and quiet; at last and for however long it lasts can be precious. It doesn’t usually last long at my house. Just today one of my family members was commenting about being that loud friend who doesn’t know how to whisper, while another was considering who was the loudest in the bunch. Let’s just say, we are not quiet people. We live out loud; it’s hectic, it’s noisy and it’s occasionally chaotic, but it’s also full of love, laughter and joy.
John 13:34-35 MSG
“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”
Living our faith out loud includes loving people. Yes, I do know how hard that can be sometimes <sigh> (Goodness knows that we should remind ourselves that, sometimes, Jesus must shake His head at us too). Loving like Jesus includes loving one another through all of life’s moments. Moments full of the good stuff, the sweet and delightful moments with wonderful bouts of laughter and joy; right along with the bad moments that are louder than necessary, the truly obnoxious moments that are full of tears and tantrums or ultimate - the dreaded quiet stare. We all have them, although truth be told, some of us have a real knack for the latter. Nevertheless, living our faith out loud means that we love one another like Jesus. Forgiveness, grace and love aren’t always easy, but they are a necessity for a blessed life. Let’s live our faith out loud, in front of everybody, by loving one another like Jesus.
