Generally, we pick up a vacuum, the garage door opener or some other wireless appliance and it works the way it’s supposed to. That is unless it’s internal battery is dead. Looking for the battery on a wireless appliance can be downright frustrating. For today’s fun task, I ended up taking my vacuum completely apart. Yep, all the way apart. While it was broken down into parts, I decided to spend some time cleaning all the nooks and crannies. I was having a hard time with one particular section, that is until I remembered that there was a special tool that came with this appliance and that it was red. I remembered seeing this little red thing recently while I was putting something else away. At the time, I had no idea what it was, but suddenly today, in that moment of indecision and frustration about what to try next, that little red tool popped into my mind. Sure enough, it was a tool designed especially for this very task. Easy peasy, and it was back together again in a snap.
Isaiah 46:4 NLT
“I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”
I didn’t have to take this thing apart today. I could have taken it somewhere and had it repaired. Once I had it apart, I didn’t have to clean it, but that wasn’t in the plan for today either. Once I got frustrated with the difficulty of the task, I could have said, enough is enough, and walked away leaving it undone.
Walking away from a frustration isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Walking away gives us time to reflect and refocus. Walking away often affords us the opportunity to hear from the Lord. Talking things over with Jesus can change our perspective from flipping out to figuring it out. He will lead us on the right path even as we are struggling with our day to day chores. Figuring things out with Jesus, helps us move from flipping out to finished.
