Digging for Truth

October 3, 2018

Fractions are hard. Figuring out how to ask the right question on Google is hard. Driving in a metropolitan city can be hard. Confronting a bully is hard. Knowing when its time to take the turkey out of the oven for the first time is hard. Asking for a raise is hard. Changing a tire is hard. Painting a ceiling is hard. Digging weeds out of our yards and gardens; now that’s hard and it's hard work. All of these things are hard, yet we figure out how to do them by reading, asking questions and learning; and then we do our best. Digging deeper into the Bible isn’t nearly as tough as it sounds. Parting the veil of confusion to reveal the truth of understanding is exciting stuff. Learning more about our faith is an adventure that is filled with joy and understanding. Exploring God’s Word will catapult our walk with Jesus in new and exciting ways.

2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭MSG‬‬
“Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.”
"Showing us truth" is at the center of God’s heart. The Word is full of examples that we can relate to and understand. 'Exposing our rebellion' is one of those things that make us go ugh, yet we know that we can still have moments when we rebel just like we did as teenagers. Right and wrong are truth, and sometimes we need a dose of truth in order to get our butts back on track. "Correcting our mistakes and training us' can be frustrating for us, but not for God. His answers and inspiration will propel us into a way of living our daily lives that is less frustrating and full of truth and much more fruitful. Every day is the best day for us to become better acquainted with God’s truth. When we dig a little deeper, we’re sure to find unexpected treasures and nuggets of understanding and joy.
