Normal?!?

October 10, 2018

I have had one of those days. It was a day where things seemed to be less than normal. I went into town to go to the store and then realized there was a closer option that would have been much easier. While at the store, I took my card out of the chip reader early; not once but three times. I forgot I was supposed to pick up the kids from school (not to worry I made it there before they knew I’d forgotten). I couldn’t tell you how many times I forgot what  I was supposed to be doing. Turned around, confused and wondering what was going to happen next seemed to be the norm for the day. Goodness knows where my brain was, because it was definitely acting out of character, that is for my normal anyways.

Matthew‬ ‭6:34‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

We’ve all have had those kinds of days. Not enough sleep, too much on our minds or who knows; we all have tales we could tell, I’m sure. Days where we feel like we are wading through muddy water and the tide is pulling us way off course. It’s pulling and pushing against our normal attitude. Normal; now there’s a word that is filled with uncharted waters. Our normal isn’t necessarily our neighbors normal, or that other persons normal, or any of the other people in our lives normal. Our norm is all our own, and when we are tired, conflicted, confused or twisted with worry, our normal can go right out the door. When we find ourselves abnormally conflicted, turned around and confused we need to lean into Jesus. Hope through Jesus is constant and consistent. His lifeline has pulled many of us from the depths of troubled, muddy and confusing waters. Rest there; rest in His arms. Jesus has everlasting arms of goodness, mercy and peace. That’s His normal, because Jesus never, ever changes.
