Suddenly Morning

October 11, 2018

That alarm goes off in the morning and most of us are awaken by the sudden sound. Yeah, you probably recognized that the words ‘most of us’ are the key words in that sentence. I have a tough time with the suddenness of mornings. I can hit that snooze button forever and not even realize that it went off. I’ve tried putting it across the room (setting it on a dresser, not throwing it ... although <cheesy grin>); to no avail. I just get up, turn it off, get back in bed and go back to sleep like I never moved a muscle. I’ve woken up clutching the alarm clock in my hands or found it under my pillow. I even got one of those clocks with the bell and little hammers, but most mornings I was found holding the little hammers back in my fists. Suddenly waking up is not my favorite part of the day, at least not until after that first cup of coffee.

Psalms‬ ‭90:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.”
‭‭
Morning don’t come easy for some of us, yet God’s love is unfailingly patient with us nevertheless. Each morning as we rise, thanking God for our new day, He is preparing us for the path that we are to walk that day. We share a cup of coffee (or tea or smoothie or whatever morning beverage we happen to favor) with Jesus and His love cascades down around us. Mornings are the best part of our day as God sets our hearts and minds up for the day’s adventure. Every morning we get a new opportunity to be a positive role model of Jesus to the people we happen to see. Every morning we are infused with God’s love, not only for ourselves, but so that we can spread His love around like confetti. Every morning is a new day, and a new opportunity to love one another and spread God’s joy all over the place. Mornings are so much better after we spend some time with the Lord.
