We’ve all had one of those days. One of those days when we wake up committed to having a joyful day, yet every little thing seems to be full of chaos and antagonism. One of those days when we run into unassuming obstacles and detours that seem to be doing their best to detour us from our goals. One of those days that try to suck the joy right out of our intentions.
Matthew 17:20 MSG
“Because you’re not yet taking God seriously,” said Jesus. “The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, ‘Move!’ and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn’t be able to tackle.”
Aggravations can be vexing, yet we are going to encounter them. Obstacles are going to hinder us, yet we are going to have them attempt to derail us. When we allow our faith to challenge our aggravations, we can turn those stumbling blocks into stepping stones. No, we can’t throw them at the obstacles, no matter how satisfying that might appear. We can, however, tackle the problem with our faith in mind. Jesus said to tell that mountain to move and it will. We can do better and be better than our first responses to aggravation with the help of the Lord. We can tackle those obstacles and circumvent those detours. We will still arrive at our destination, and bonus, we get to take the scenic route. We can put the joy back into our journey, because Jesus said there there is nothing we won’t be able to tackle and that includes those aggravating obstacles. Every positive step of faith is turning that stumbling block into a stepping stone on the path towards our destination.
