Here at our house we have been experiencing the ‘Great Ant Invasion’ of 2018. It started a few weeks ago in the kids bedroom. I pulled out all the stops, including the bed. I washed and changed the linens, vacuum and cleaned everything. Then I washed and re-caulked the windows and finally sprinkled borax everywhere. Then it rained. The guest bathroom was next and again with the washing and the cleaning, and the caulking and the borax routine. Then it rained again and the next room on their hit list was the master bathroom, and the same routine began again. Last night the dining nook was invaded, and the cleaning and the borax and caulk gun are once again on the agenda. My post ant invasion cycle feels like I’m on a never ending quest since the beginning of the great ant invasion. Ants. There must be something to learn from this little guy, so I decided to search the word ‘ants’ on my handy dandy Bible app.
Proverbs 6:6 NLT
“Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!”
Take a lesson from the ants. Learn from their ways. Well, if this ant invasion had one lesson I think it is the fact that ants are determined and diligent. When ants have a goal, they don’t give up. I mean never! <SIGH> Instead they figure out a way to achieve that goal. Uphill, downhill, through the obstacle or over it, through high water or a dry bed of dirt; they are going to find a way. The ant just doesn’t give up. Plus, all of their friends and family gather together to help them. Urging them on and lending a hand as needed. They gather, and they save, and they make do, and they don’t worry that it’s not enough. Almost every thing in the world is bigger or stronger than an ant, yet that doesn’t hinder them or even cramp their style. They keep on keeping on, no matter what. Yep, we certainly can learn a little something from the ant.
