We Get To ...

January 1, 2019

Happy New Year! We say these words every year and every year our words are filled with hope. Hope for .... Some of us may have just experienced the best year ever, and we are looking forward to all that the future holds. For others the past year may have been fraught with pitfalls, sadness and grief, and we just want the year to be over. Perhaps our past year was simply uneventful and we coasted along content in the simplicity. Either way, we woke up this morning, and that means we are blessed beyond measure.

Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-23‬ ‭ESV‬‬ne
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
‭‭
God’s love and mercy are poured into our lives every single day, and because of that we get to experience all the joys, the love and the beauty of God’s world. We get to come and go, and we get to share God’s grace with others. We get to spend time with loved ones, even when they’re making us crazy. We get to decide whether we are going to rest, play or work and how hard. We get to enjoy our day, and we get to laugh, and giggle and tease, and we get to love. We get to do all of these things because God’s love, mercy and faithfulness are new each and every morning. Even when we feel alone, God’s presence is surrounding us. Even when we are on top of the world, God is right there with us. Even when we coast along in contentment, God is with us. God’s love and mercies are surrounding us even now. Every day we get the opportunity to learn, love and laugh; we even get to cry as we experience grace, encouragement and comfort. We get the opportunity to begin this new day, in this new year, because God’s grace never ends. We get to, because God’s faithfulness never ends, and we get to experience it all. Happy New Year!
