When bad things happen we get to choose our response. We can rant and rave. We can whine about our bad luck. We can scream and cry. We can complain to everyone who will listen. We can do any and all of those things, and more. We may even feel a little better afterwards, but these responses do not have a lot going for them or for us. The only real help for us is found in the Lord.
Psalms 23:1-6 KJV
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
When peace is nowhere to be found, reach for the Lord. When bad things happen, turn to the Lord. When the world seems topsy turvy and everything is spinning out of control, reach for the Lord. When we reach out to the Lord we can find our balance once again. The Lord is our source of comfort and encouragement. Restoration and peace, our very salvation, and our hope is found in the Lord. When we respond to our trials and our troubles by reaching out to the Lord, we can find renewed strength and we will be able to find rest in His peace. When peace is nowhere to be found, look to the Lord.
