Earlier today we took a side trip on a new adventure. We stopped at site that dates back centuries; a location used by local peoples over the centuries and it continues to be a popular local destination today. On our walk about we also saw a house that has stood for more than a century on a hill above a intercostal waterway. Although placed in such a way that the view is splendid (and it certainly is), it is also placed in such a way as to be subject to the sun, winds, and rains as it still stands steadily upon its hill. As we wandered around the site, the foundation on the house stood out in particular. A solid foundation of brick and mortar strategically placed to hold all of the weight placed upon it. A foundation is the basis upon which something stands or is supported; an underlying base or support. The foundation supports and upholds whatever is placed upon it.
Ephesians 2:20 NLT
“Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.”
Our foundation is the strongest ever developed and made even more powerful because Jesus is our cornerstone. A cornerstone is a particular feature upon which something depends or is based upon. Just as that house has stood strong and steady, we can stand awake, alert and ready to weather every storm because of our firm foundation. We can stand active and ready to share our faith with others as we go about our daily lives, because of that same foundation. We can stand strong and steadfast for ourselves and for others, because of our firm foundation. When we trust in Jesus, He will see that we will have everything that we need. Wherever we go and wherever we live, we bring our foundation of faith along with us. With Jesus as our cornerstone and our foundation of faith, we have all that we need, wherever our adventures take us.
