When we welcome new neighbors, we want to make good impression. We want to come across as friendly and welcoming, so we have to consider our options, and choose wisely. This time I decided to make some muffins (but not those ugly muffins <grin>). So after baking, and packing up a basket with the muffins, we started to contemplate the card. Blank cards are always a challenge, but definitely worth the effort. As my husband and I collaborated over the card, we finally decided on this verse.
1 Samuel 25:6 ESV
“...'Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.”
Peace is a blessing, to and for all of us. Peace in our selves, in our homes, and over all that we have. Peace for our spouses, our children, parents, siblings and extended family. Peace for our homes, workplaces and all the places that we travel. Peace as we go from here, to there, and everywhere. As I am writing I’m singing along with the chorus of that old great hymn Wonderful Peace.
‘Peace, peace, wonderful peace. Coming down from the Father above! Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray, in fathomless billows of love!’
May our homes be filled with God’s peace. Peace that welcomes friends and offers comfort and joy. May God’s peace be a blanket of comfort that keeps us cozy, warm and safe. May we find God’s peace even in the midst of turmoil. May we, our family and our homes share the sanctuary of that peace with one another and with others. Peace, peace, God’s wonderful peace. Peace is a gift to be shared everyday. Peace, God's fathomless billows of love.
