When God calls us into something new it can be scary. Let’s face it, sometimes it’s downright terrifying. Moving forward when we don't aren’t sure about the path ahead can be intimidating. Whether it’s a new job or a new opportunity for advancement, going to school or back to school, moving to a new city or even across town; whatever the ‘new’ situation is, it’s the ‘new’ part can be unsettling. New things stir up lots of feelings inside of us. We might even be saying
"Wait a minute God...I don't know if I am ready!" God knows us, He hears our hearts and our mumblings ... and He's listening.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 NLT
"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me."
If God has a purpose for us, then He most definitely has a plan in place, and that plan is sure to develop for us. Staying focused and centered on Jesus, helps the possibilities take shape.
Colossians 3:13 NLT
"Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done."
‘Don't worry’ is easy to say, but we can get caught up in all the details. When we find ourselves worrying, we have turn those worrisome thoughts into prayers. We can stay focused and centered by talking it over with Jesus; it’s the best way to settle our worried minds.
Philippians 4:19 NLT
"And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus."
God tells us very clearly that if He has ordained us to do a certain thing that He will supply all of our needs. That’s doesn’t mean there may not be a few bumps in the road, but if we stay focused and centered on Jesus we will get there.
Hebrews 11:1 NLT
"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see."
The most important part is faith. A big ole heaping helping of faith. Faith because God's got us covered, and He has it all figured out. Stay focused and centered on Jesus, and in communication with Him, and He will show us when to start and when to stop. He will send us right where we need to go, to get everything that we need, to do all that He's called us to do. We aren't going it alone.
Walking into something new takes all of these things; knowing that God will supply all of our needs (even before we know we need them), turning our worries into prayers, faith that God's has a plan, knowing that He has filled us with purpose and that He’s got our best interest in mind. Joy is found in the journey when we are walking it with Jesus; focused and centered.
