Inspiration is all around us, all we have to do is look and we will find it. This past spring a pair of birds built a nest. There are birds all over the world building nests, so what makes this one pair of birds so special? This family built their nest in our garage. Again. This is the first of many attempts that this family has made to proliferate in our garage. There have been obstacles and circumstances that were unfortunate or unforeseen that have blocked their success, yet they never gave up. Mom and Dad have utilized technical advancements and achieved more and more each and every year. Nests that didn't stay together. Nests that were moved unintentionally. Nests that contained eggs that never hatched. Every year they have tried and the next year they tried a different approach. They have changed building materials, located in different areas and made various improvements over the years. Until they finally achieved success. There are two baby birds alive and making lots noise and demanding all their attention. This pair of birds never gave up. They had a goal and they went after it with everything they had to give. Every obstacle became a learning process. Every failure resulted in experience. Every opportunity to make a different choice was, ultimately, the best part of what made them successful.
Luke 6:38 NLT
"Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
The inspiration that we find in this pair of birds is to never give up. We have to give it all we’ve got every time. When we do, we will find that what we learn through the difficulties, is what eventually helps us find success. When we can adjust our perspective to our failures, they can then become applied learning experiences instead of hindrances. We’ve been given every gift we need for success. Pressed down and shaken together, leads to more, and more leads to overflow. Never give up, and we can find inspiration in the process of building our own nest.
